The Great Grandma Tour

Mateo's visits to Nana Vi and Great Grandma Jean kept us on the road much of the day. As you can see he was wiped out by the end, but he would wake up every once in awhile on the way home, stick the kazoo in his mouth and hum a few notes before nodding off again. Heehee. We also paid a quick visit to his Uncle Corey and cousins Reggie and Justice - thanks for seeing us on short notice!

Wheels & Wings Air Show

Kev took Mateo to the air show that was newly added to Wheels & Wings this year. Lunch was chips, jets were loud and planes were awesome. Great stunt-flying, loads of fun.

Goodbye, Sweet Friend

One Last Hurrah...

...at the cottage. Lunch, a game of baseball, and a pontoon ride around the lake. That was a beautiful way to end the summer. Thanks, Mom and Dad.

First Day of School

Our baby went off to school today. He had chocolate milk and chocolate chip cookies and he didn't play outside because it was wet but they played in the gym and he learned about his heart and pretended he was a dinosaur. I'm happy to report that he enjoyed it and is looking forward to returning.

Young Women in the Arts

This summer Mateo and I had the pleasure of seeing and hearing my niece Reggie perform at Shell Lake Arts Center where she attended band camp. She is one talented trumpeter! Reggie - I'm really proud of you.

Later in the summer my friend, Eva, had an art show with four other young artists at Umber Studios in south Minneapolis. Eva was one of my art campers at Lamar (but I can't take credit for her fabulous work). Thanks for the invitation, Eva - great show!

Z is for...

Zany sculpture at Franconia Sculpture Park! We went to a concert here and found it to be a fabulous place to explore - interactive (and non-interactive) sculpture, working artists, great music, a wandering magician, veggie burgers - sweet.

Extra! Extra! Llama Sighting at Local Park!

We've really enjoyed nature storytime this summer, and the last one of the season was no exception. Some of the older kids did some reader's theater with a story about a llama, and then Ranger Nancy brought one of her llamas out for the kids to meet and feed. I was surprised that Mateo did it - he's come such a long way! After a snack and llama craft we said goodbye to the park rangers until next summer. A really great program in our own backyard.
