After brunch with the Ethertons, we met my folks at a park to run off some Easter sugar. The last time we were at this particular park Mateo ran after a squirrel and I completely freaked out. He was really close to it and (in my mind) the squirrel was definitely going to bite him and give him rabies. "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!" Didn't notice any squirrels today.

Easter Morning
Last night we had this conversation...
Me: I spy a bunny in the yard. Do you think it's the Easter Bunny?
Mateo: No. The Easter Bunny is different colors.
Me: Maybe that bunny works for the Easter Bunny. Maybe he's looking for good spots to hide Easter eggs.
Mateo: Or maybe he's just looking for food for himself.
(sigh)
At any rate, Mateo had a good time searching for eggs in the chilly morning air ;)

Great.
Great's funeral was today. One of the most common memories people shared of her was how she could make something out of nothing much at all. She had a wonderful creative intelligence.
Some of my Great-est memories:
Lemon drop candies
The smell of eastern European soup. What is that? Kasha? Barley?
Trouble – the board game
Making things with chicken bones and google eyes
Her light blue trailer
Crocheted (or knit?) slippers
Soap operas on the tv
Her dog, Cubby
Kleenex rolled up in her sleeve
She passed away on February 8th at the age of 100. What a long time to live. Mateo and I waved at her among the stars on a candlelight hike tonight.
