The holidays snuck up on us, and fled just as fast. Given that, it seems unusual that we had a couple of quiet moments at home for reflection. But we did and we're grateful for that - there was much to think about. The loss of a grandma, the loss of an aunt's mother, a family friend's battle with cancer, a colleague's partner's battle with cancer - sobering thoughts that help put things in perspective. And happier times, too - our year with Mateo: the trip to Guatemala, our first meeting, his "welcome home" parties, his re-adoption, his first birthday, his first Christmas with us, all those teeth, all that growth, becoming mobile, all those milestones - wow! Not to mention memorable times with family and friends - we are undeniably fortunate.
Speaking of Mateo and his speedy growth, we've decided to create this blog so those who don't see him very often (whether challenged by busy-ness, geography, hibernation, or what-have-you) and those who simply want to see his adorable little face with the click of a mouse, can keep up with his goings-on. (Kev and I might include our goings-on as well, but rest assured we're not kidding ourselves - we know who you're really interested in!)
