A Word About Father's Day

Leading up to Father’s Day, I have noticed a lot of stories out there – on blogs, from friends – about less-than-perfect relationships between fathers and children. Abuse, neglect, absence, apathy. And it makes me appreciate my dad all the more. Sometimes it’s hard to express that, but in the midst of these unfortunate stories, I came across this quote:

"My father didn't tell me how to live;
he lived, and let me watch him do it."
Clarence Budington Kelland

It really suits both of my parents, and it explains why I am at times uber-busy like my mom and at other times in search of solitude like my dad. How lucky for me to have parents like them.
